Medication Shortages

As the post-COVID-lockdown world continues to gradually recoil from the changes in just about every industry, its effects on the supply of certain medications have been troubling. Initially, this has seemed to affect one class of drug in particular. However we are finding that, sporadically, the supply of various medications – even including antibiotics according to colleagues, has been reduced in some cases. We have been encountering our prescribed treatments not being readily available for our patients on occasion. This has been impossible to predict, and remains inconsistent and difficult to prevent – as even the pharmacies themselves are unable to tell us of their current inventories or when they expect back-ordered medications to be replenished in stock.

Please bear with us during this challenging time. A number of our patients have had to go to multiple pharmacies to acquire certain medications, which we realize is time-consuming and anxiety-provoking in and of itself. We will continue to do everything we can to ease the process within our ability. In time, hopefully the pharmaceutical world will catch up to the demand of all of those in need, regardless of which conditions people are struggling with.

Happy New Year!

It is perhaps as good a time as any to reflect on the importance of mental health in general, in the coming year ahead. All of us have been affected by the pandemic; needless to say, especially those already struggling with conditions such as depression or anxiety. The isolation imposed on most of us has challenged our individual ability to cope with solitude and loneliness at times; not to mention the changes in occupation / income, changes in routine and changes in relationships – all of which have prompted some to explore changes in coping skills, for better or worse.

We at Converge continue to be taking new patients in an effort to broaden our outreach; and have expanded our practice to include virtual visits in an effort to extend psychiatric services to all, regardless of geographic location or situation. In-person office visits are still encouraged and available, the choice is always yours.

Change can be difficult, and change in addition to mental health concerns can be a difficult combination. As always, we encourage all of those with ongoing mental health concerns to seek counseling if able, and we are here to do our part in the management of psychotropic medications if/when they are needed for your particular condition.

Contact us today to make an appointment if we can help you!
